About the destination: Toledo flourished in the medieval era during the peaceful coexistence of Christians, Muslims and Jews. This fact has left behind a dignified and slightly mystical walled city. Toledo’s monuments crowd together in a dizzying anarchy of periods and styles, held together in a medieval matrix of sagging houses, churches, synagogues, and mosques. The city that El Greco portrayed in a few of his rare landscapes has changed little over the years. Surrounded by Rio Tajo, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site and is one of Spain’s most visited cities. The cathedral is a complex banquet of architectural and artistic styles. Two synagogues, Sinagoga del Tránsito and Sinagoga de Santa Maria la Blanca, and a museum, the Museo Sefardi, are all that remain of what was once the largest Jewish community in Spain. Reminders of the Muslim presence are visible near the Puerta del Sol a 14th century Mudéjar gate and the 10th century mosque, Mezquita del Cristo de la Luz. About the destination: Cuenca is a city in the Castile-La Mancha region of Spain. The town itself is a world heritage site - the old town is an outstanding example of a medieval city, built on the steep sides of a mountain. The historic fortified city of Cuenca, formed by the area within the walls and the neighborhoods of El Castillo, San Antón and Los Tiradores, has been declared a World Heritage site by the UNESCO. Its historic center declared of Cultural Interest, extends along the edge of rocky cliffs in the heart of the Serranía de Cuenca Mountains. The cathedral, the Hanging Houses and the cobbled streets will enchant even the most jaded traveler.

Valencia is the birthplace of both paella and orxata de chufas, and it provides the most authentic setting for sampling them. From the Old Town rises the Gothic and neoclassical Seu, Metropolitan Cathedral. Its tower, the Micalet, offers a far-reaching panorama of the historic centre of the city. The inside of the cathedral is notable for its cool simplicity and simple, but beautiful, six-panel altarpiece. The Museu de la Seu, the Cathedral Museum, claims among other lesser treasures, two large Goyas and one of Spain’s several supposedly authentic Holy Grails. Nearby is the Llotja de la Seda, the former silk exchange, with its handsome pillars. No matter if you like the modern or the old, Valencia has everything to offer. You can get lost at night in the historic centre and walk in front of the illuminated cathedral or visit La Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias, the City of Arts and Sciences, the avant-garde side of the city.

Maricel Museum The Maricel Museum is a museum located in the centre of Sitges. This art collection takes the visitor on an evocative tour of the last two centuries of Catalan painting, from Joaquim Espalter (born in Sitges in 1809) to Pere Pruna. Made up of more than 3 000 items of varying origin, the collection includes Romanesque murals, examples of Gothic painting on wood, Renaissance carvings and altarpices, Modernista or Noucentista sculptures.
